DEAM is the state chapter of the national organization NADE (National Association for Developmental Education). We represent faculty and administrative staff who work and have a vested interest in students in developmental courses and programs on college campuses in Maryland, including community colleges, four year colleges and universities.
DEAM’s mission is to support the professional growth and development of all who are involved in developmental education and to act as the statewide resource for all information pertaining to developmental education in Maryland.
In striving to carry out this mission, DEAM engages in a variety of professional development opportunities and activities that include the following:
- Fall Workshop
- Newsletter (members only)
- Contributions made by members
- Information about upcoming events that relate to developmental education
- Network of over 100 members
- Scholarship opportunities for faculty, students and staff who are involved with developmental education
DEAM had helped thousands of students by providing these opportunities for participants through our workshops and other events by learning best practices in the field of developmental education. Our information has been used by professionals in the field of developmental education across Maryland campuses for nearly 25 years. These professionals include but are not limited to faculty, tutoring, disability services, counseling and advising services.
